One Day (Un Día)

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. -2 Corinthians 4:18

Sometimes our vision gets clouded by the here and now. It's hard to remember that this life is only an eyeblink. 

I'm so thankful God has given us glimpses of eternity in His Word, so that we can fix our eyes on what is unseen. 

May this song be an encouraging reminder of what we're really living for.

Un Día

Así que no nos fijamos en lo visible sino en lo invisible, ya que lo que se ve es pasajero, mientras que lo que no se ve es eterno. -2 Co. 4:18

A veces nuestra visión se nubla con el aquí y ahora. Es difícil recordar que esta vida es solamente un parpadeo.

Estoy muy agradecida porque Dios, en Su Palabra, nos ha dado vistazos de la eternidad, para que podamos fijar nuestros ojos en lo que no se ve.

Que esta canción sea un recordatorio que nos anime a ver aquello por lo que en realidad estamos viviendo.

Happy, Happy, Happy (Feliz, Feliz, Feliz)

While I'm not really a "Duck Dynasty" fan, I do like this particular motto of theirs. =)

I know how easy it is to get stuck in a rut of complaining or only seeing the frustrating and challenging things in life. Sometimes we need to purposefully look around for the happy things.

So let's have a little fun today! =) Let's share some things that make us happy. I'll get it started with a list of some of mine. Please share yours in the comments. Let's take time to celebrate our many blessings that make us happy, happy, happy! =) 

What things make you happy?

Random things - 

 *completing a project and crossing it off my list makes me happy =)

 *having clean feet makes me happy

 *finding a great deal on sale makes me happy! 

 *eating a juicy, Fuji apple makes me happy 

Sweet things - 

 *seeing a rainbow makes me happy

 *listening to fun Irish music makes me happy =)

 *sitting in the sun and feeling a cool breeze makes me happy

 *getting an encouraging card in the mail makes me happy 

Meaningful things - 

 *playing with my nieces and nephews makes me happy

 *laughing with my family and friends makes me happy

 *hearing stories of what God has done for people makes me happy

 *thinking about how MUCH God loves me makes me happy, happy, happy!!! =)

Aunque en realidad no soy aficionada a la “Dinastía de los Patos” me gusta este lema particular de ellos. =)

Sé lo fácil que es quedar atrapado en una rutina de queja o ver solamente las cosas frustrantes y desafiantes de la vida. A veces necesitamos proponernos buscar alrededor nuestro para ver cosas que nos hacen felices.

Así que ¡tengamos un poco de recreación hoy! =) Compartamos algunas cosas que nos hacen felices. Voy a empezar con algunas de las que me hacen feliz a mí. Faithful God (Dios Fiel)

And He passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness,"

He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He.

...You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the LORD your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.

The LORD is faithful to all His promises and loving toward all He has made.

"Who Do You Say I Am?" - Part 2 (“¿Tú Quien Dices Que Soy Yo?” – Parte 2)

A few weeks ago we looked at Jesus' question to His disciples, "Who do you say I am?" 

How we answer this question reveals what we believe about Jesus. He wants us to believe the truth about Him and know Him better and better.  

But I think Jesus also wants us to ask Him this same question - "Who do you say I am?"

We are constantly bombarded by messages from the world, from people around us, and from our own hearts about who we are. But no matter how true those messages may feel, Jesus is the only one with the authority to tell me who I am. He created me and He has saved me. I belong to Him. 

So, with a little trembling, I've been asking Him, "Jesus, who do you say I am?" 

His voice speaks through His Word, telling me, Joanna - 

"You are chosen (Eph. 1:4, 11).

 You are forgiven (Eph. 1:7, Col. 2:13).

 You are my beloved, in whom I delight (Zeph. 3:17).

 You are blessed (Eph. 1:3).

 You are a simple clay jar, but you are filled with my all-surpassing power (2 Cor. 4:7)!

 You are my hands, feet, and voice on the earth (2 Cor. 5:20).

 You are beautiful in my sight, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). 

 You are complete in ME (Col. 2:10)!

There's much more in God's Word about who He says I am. But even just this short list brings me to tears. 

Oh Lord Jesus, give us ears to hear and hearts to believe who YOU say we are! Thank you.

Question: What have you learned about who God says you are?

“¿Tú Quien Dices Que Soy Yo?” – Parte 2

Hace unas semanas consideramos la pregunta de Jesús a sus discípulos, “¿Ustedes, quién dicen que soy yo?”

Cómo respondamos a esta pregunta revela lo que creemos de Jesús. Él quiere que creamos la verdad acerca de él y conocerlo cada vez mejor.

Pero creo que Jesús también quiere que le hagamos esta misma pregunta –“¿Tú quién dices que soy yo?”

Somos bombardeados constantemente por mensajes del mundo, de la gente a nuestro derredor y de nuestro propio corazón, sobre quienes somos. Pero sin importar qué tan ciertos parezcan esos mensajes, Jesús es el único con la autoridad de decirme quien soy. Él me creó y me salvó. Le pertenezco.

Así que, con un poquito de temblor, le he estado preguntando: “¿Tú quién dices que soy yo?”

Su voz habla a través de Su Palabra diciéndome, Joanna –

“Eres escogida (Ef. 1: 4, 11).

Eres perdonada (Ef. 1:7, Col. 2;13).

Eres mi amada, en quien me regocijo (Sof. 3:17).

Eres bendita (Ef. 1:3).

Eres una sencilla vasija de barro, pero ¡estás llena con la excelencia de mi poder (2 Co. 4:7)!

Eres mis manos, pies y voz en la tierra (2 Co. 5:20).

Eres hermosa a mi vista, hecha formidable y maravillosamente (Sal. 139:14).

Eres ¡completa en MÍ (Col. 2:10)!

Hay mucho más en la Palabra de Dios acerca de quien Él dice que soy yo. Pero hasta esta pequeña lista me hace llorar.

Oh, Señor Jesús, ¡danos oídos para escuchar y corazones para creer quienes dices TÚ que somos nosotros! Gracias.

Pregunta: ¿Qué has aprendido acerca de quién dice Dios que tú eres?

No Guilt, No Fear (Sin Culpa, Sin Temor)

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1).

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear (1 John 4:18a).

No condemnation and perfect love - these are our gifts in Jesus Christ. 

We are no longer guilty. We no longer need to fear anything. 

So why do we? 

What would my life actually look like if I lived with NO guilt and NO fear? 

I'm not sure I can imagine it. 

Guilt and fear are like familiar foes. I may not like them, but I'm used to them. I try not to let them stay around for long, but then I'm not surprised when they return again. I don't want to live with them, but some days it's hard to get rid of them.

How can I change this?

Only by looking at Jesus can I imagine what it's like to live without guilt or fear. He lived this life perfectly - unafraid, sinless. He is the ultimate example of a fearless life. 

But Jesus isn't just a good example for me to follow. 

Jesus lives IN ME! 

Through His life and power at work in me, I can learn to let go of guilt and to reject fear. Hallelujah!

Jesus, thank you for living IN US! Teach us to rely on your life and power to live with no fear and no guilt. May you display your glory in us and through us to a world of hurting people - because you are ABLE! 

Amen.

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. -Ephesians 3:20-21

Sin Culpa, Sin Temor

Por lo tanto, ya no hay ninguna condenación para los que están unidos a Cristo Jesús (Romanos 8:1).

En el amor no hay temor, sino que el amor perfecto echa fuera el temor (1Jn. 4:18a).

Ninguna condenación y amor perfecto – estos son nuestros regalos en Jesucristo.

Ya no somos culpables. Ya no necesitamos temer nada.

Entonces, ¿qué hacemos?

En realidad, ¿cómo se vería mi vida si viviera SIN ninguna condenación y SIN temor?

No estoy segura de poder imaginarlo.

La culpa y el temor son como enemigos familiares. Puede que no me gusten, pero estoy acostumbrada a ellos. Trato de no permitirles permanecer por mucho tiempo, pero entonces no me sorprende cuando regresan. No quiero vivir con ellos, pero algunos días es difícil deshacerse de ellos.

¿Cómo puedo cambiar esto?

Sólo mirando a Jesús puedo imaginar cómo es vivir sin culpa o temor. Él vivió esta vida perfectamente – sin miedo, sin pecado. Él es el máximo ejemplo de una vida sin temores.

Pero Jesús no es solamente un buen ejemplo a seguir.

¡Jesús vive EN MÍ!

A través de Su vida y poder trabajando en mí, puedo aprender a soltar la culpa y rechazar el temor. ¡Aleluya!

Jesús, ¡gracias por vivir EN NOSOTROS! Enséñanos a descansar en tu vida y tu poder para vivir sin temor y sin culpa. Despliega tu gloria en nosotros y a través de nosotros a un mundo de gente herida – porque ¡tú PUEDES!

Al que puede hacer muchísimo más que todo lo que podamos imaginarnos o pedir,  por el poder que obra eficazmente en nosotros, ¡a él sea la gloria en la iglesia y en Cristo Jesús por todas las generaciones,  por los siglos de los siglos!  Amén.

Fruit From Suffering (Fruto Del Sufrimiento)

"So often the soil of our suffering will become the fertile ground for our seasons of fruitfulness."

I read this quote last week, and it stuck with me. I praise God that this is true! 

The last 9 years have been a long season of suffering for me. But I'm so grateful that God has brought and is bringing fruit from it!

I believe that at this time the Lord is moving me out of the season of suffering into a new season. I hope and expect that it will be a season of much fruitfulness by His power and grace! 

Whatever trial you may be going through right now, I pray you'll be encouraged today. God does not waste anything, especially our pain. I know He has a plan to bring fruitfulness from your season of suffering. 

May He be glorified in our lives in every season.

Fruto Del Sufrimiento

Leí esta cita la semana pasada y se me quedó grabada. ¡Alabo a Dios porque esto es verdad!

Los últimos nueve años han sido una larga temporada de sufrimiento para mí. Pero ¡estoy tan agradecida que Dios ha traído y sigue trayendo fruto de ésa!

Creo que en este momento el Señor me está sacando de la temporada de sufrimiento a una nueva de mucha fertilidad, ¡Por Su poder y Su gracia!

Cualquiera que sea la prueba por la que estés atravesando ahora mismo, oro que seas animado hoy. Dios no desperdicia nada, especialmente nuestro dolor. Sé que tiene un plan para traer fruto aún de tu temporada de sufrimiento.

Que Él sea glorificado en nuestras vidas en cada temporada.
