The Light Of God (La Luz De Dios)

Do you ever have bad dreams--I mean really bad, the kind that makes you want to turn on all the lights in the house and crank up some loud praise music?

I had a dream like that not long ago. After I woke up, I tried quoting verses, singing praise songs, and praying for other people...but the sense of evil from the dream still lingered. 

After a while I noticed that my room wasn't quite so dark anymore. The sun was slowly rising, and, even filtered through the curtains, its light spread around me. I felt a peace settle on my heart. I closed my eyes and went back to sleep. 

Why is it that I can turn on all the lights and still feel the weight of an evil dream? But as soon as the sun spreads a tiny bit of light, all is well once again?

I think it's because even with all the lights on in the house, I know there is still darkness surrounding me outside. But once the sun shines, all is illuminated; darkness is banished. 

As I thought about this, I realized what a picture this is of God and His light. Jesus said I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life (John 8:12).

When we know and believe in Jesus, we are transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light (Col. 1:13). We may experience hard times, evil attacks, temptations, etc. But even through all of those things, we know that darkness has been banished from our souls. We are placed in the light of God for eternity! 

There is a peace that comes from living in God's light. Those who don't believe in Jesus do not have peace. They are still groping around in the darkness, running from fear, searching for something...and we are now God's instruments of light. He longs to shine through us with the reality of His presence, power and love. 

As we experience the blessings of the light of God, may we reach out into the darkness by His power and lead many more souls into His light. 

Arise, shine, for your light has come,
    and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.

See, darkness covers the earth
    and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the LORD rises upon you
    and His glory appears over you.

Nations will come to your light,
    and kings to the brightness of your dawn.

La Luz De Dios

¿Algunas veces tienes malos sueños? Quiero decir verdaderamente malos, ¿de esos que te hacen desear encender todas las luces de la casa y poner algo de música de alabanza muy duro?

Tuve un sueño así no hace mucho. Después que me desperté, traté de citar versículos, cantar himnos de alabanza y orar por otras personas… pero la sensación del mal por el sueño todavía persistía.

Después de un rato noté que mi cuarto ya no estaba tan oscuro. El sol estaba levantándose lentamente e inclusive se filtraba a través de las cortinas, expandiendo su luz a mi alrededor. Sentí paz afirmándose en mi corazón. Cerré mis ojos y me volví a dormir.

¿Por qué es que puedo encender todas las luces y todavía sentir el peso de un mal sueño pero apenas el sol manda un poquito de luz todo está bien otra vez?

Creo que es porque aún con todas las luces prendidas en la casa, sé que todavía hay oscuridad de afuera que me rodea. Pero una vez que el sol alumbra, todo se ilumina, la oscuridad se desvanece.

Mientras pensaba en esto, me di cuenta qué gran ilustración es ésta de Dios y Su Luz. Jesús dijo: “… Yo soy la luz del mundo, el que me sigue, no andará en tinieblas, sino que tendrá la luz de la vida” (Juan 8:12).

Cuando conocemos a Jesús y creemos en Él somos trasladados del reino de las tinieblas al reino de la luz (Col. 1:13). Podemos experimentar tiempos difíciles, ataques del demonio, tentaciones, etc. Pero incluso en medio de todas esas cosas, sabemos que la oscuridad ha desaparecido de nuestras almas. ¡Estamos ubicados en la luz de Dios por la eternidad!

Hay una paz que viene de vivir en la luz de Dios. Los que no creen en Jesús no tienen paz. Todavía están buscando a tientas en la oscuridad, huyendo por temor, buscando algo… y ahora nosotros somos los instrumentos de luz de Dios, Él ansía brillar a través de nosotros con la realidad de Su presencia, poder y amor.

Mientras experimentamos las bendiciones de la luz de Dios, extendamos la mano hacia la oscuridad por Su poder y guiemos muchas más almas a Su luz.

 "¡Levántate y resplandece, que tu luz ha llegado!

 ¡La gloria del Señor brilla sobre ti!

Mira, las tinieblas cubren la tierra,

 y una densa oscuridad se cierne sobre los pueblos.

 Pero la aurora del Señor brillará sobre ti;

 ¡sobre ti se manifestará su gloria!

Las naciones serán guiadas por tu luz,

 y los reyes, por tu amanecer esplendoroso.”
