Priceless Prayer (Oración invaluable)

Guest Post - by Jan Harris

Today we have a guest post from a very special person - my wise and wonderful mom! I've been blessed by her every day of my life, and today I'm happy to let her share some thoughts that I know will be a blessing to you too. =)

Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. -Jeremiah 33:3

There is much need for prayer these days.

From the persecution of Christians in Syria and Egypt to the floods in Colorado where hundreds are homeless.

From friends desperately seeking a job to others with serious illness to deep needs in the lives of our own family members.

God is calling His people to prayer.

There’s an old saying, “More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.”

Ephesians 3:20 reminds us that God is...able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.

I know we’re all so busy that it seems like there’s no time to pray, but my challenge is this: If I really believe that God hears and answers prayer, what could be more important?

Let’s evaluate our lives and set aside some of the less important things that absorb our time. Let’s turn off the “background noise” and pray while we fold the laundry, mow the lawn or drive to work.

In addition, we need a time of prayer when we’re alone with God and totally focused on Him and His will.

Here are two quotes about prayer that I love:

From Corrie ten Boom: "Don’t pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it."

From J. Hudson Taylor: "The  power of prayer has never been tried to its full capacity. If we want to see mighty wonders of divine power and grace wrought in the place of weakness, failure and disappointment, let us answer God's standing challenge, in Jeremiah 33:3. Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not!"
