Gracious God (Dios Misericordioso)

Then the LORD came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the LORD. And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness….”
-Exodus 34:5-6

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.
–Numbers 6:24-26

They refused to listen and failed to remember the miracles you performed among them. They became stiff-necked and in their rebellion appointed a leader in order to return to their slavery. But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. Therefore you did not desert them.

The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.

Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him! Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him.
He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. –Luke 4:14-22


Dios Misericordioso

El Señor descendió en la nube y se puso junto a Moisés. Luego le dio a conocer su nombre: pasando delante de él, proclamó:
—El Señor, el Señor, Dios clemente y compasivo, lento para la ira y grande en amor y fidelidad,-

El Señor te bendiga y te guarde; el Señor te mire con agrado y te extienda su amor; el Señor te muestre su favor paz

Se negaron a escucharte; no se acordaron de las maravillas que hiciste por ellos. Fue tanta su terquedad y rebeldía que hasta se nombraron un jefe para que los hiciera volver a la esclavitud de Egipto. Pero tú no los abandonaste porque eres Dios perdonador, clemente y compasivo, lento para la ira y grande en amor.

El Señor es compasivo y justo; nuestro Dios es todo ternura.

Por eso el Señor los espera, para tenerles piedad; por eso se levanta para mostrarles compasión. Porque el Señor es un Dios de justicia. ¡Dichosos todos los que en él esperan!
Pueblo de Sión, que habitas en Jerusalén, ya no llorarás más. ¡El Dios de piedad se apiadará de ti cuando clames pidiendo ayuda! Tan pronto como te oiga, te responderá.

Jesús regresó a Galilea en el poder del Espíritu, y se extendió su fama por toda aquella región. Enseñaba en las sinagogas, y todos lo admiraban.
Fue a Nazaret, donde se había criado, y un sábado entró en la sinagoga, como era su costumbre. Se levantó para hacer la lectura, y le entregaron el libro del profeta Isaías. Al desenrollarlo, encontró el lugar donde está escrito:
«El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí, por cuanto me ha ungido para anunciar buenas nuevas a los pobres. Me ha enviado a proclamar libertad a los cautivos y dar vista a los ciegos, a poner en libertad a los oprimidos, a pregonar el año del favor del Señor.»
Luego enrolló el libro, se lo devolvió al ayudante y se sentó. Todos los que estaban en la sinagoga lo miraban detenidamente, y él comenzó a hablarles: «Hoy se cumple esta Escritura en presencia de ustedes.»
Todos dieron su aprobación, impresionados por las hermosas palabras que salían de su boca.
